Aircraft Hanger - SUSCC

In 2022, Sherer Consulting Engineers, LLC was hired by Williams Blackstock Architects to serve as the Mechanical Engineer-of-Record for a new aircraft hangar training facility to be constructed at Auburn University Airport for Southern Union State Community College's Airframe & Powerplant School.  With state of the art classrooms and lab spaces, as well as a large hangar training area, this facility will help train a new generation of aviation technicians and mechanics, in which there is currently a severe deficit in the industry.  The hangar was designed to comply with NFPA 409 Group 3 requirements.    

SCE provided the mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design for the facility, which includes all heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems and equipment, domestic water distribution, sanitary waste & vent system, natural gas distribution, compressed air systems, oil/water separator, emergency plumbing fixtures, and extra hazard classification fire suppression system and fire pump.  SCE is also providing Construction Administration services for the project, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
