Wesley founded Sherer Consulting Engineers, LLC in July 2020, establishing the first office in Orange Beach, Alabama. With over 20 years of experience in the building design and construction industry, Wesley holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama (2003). He possesses professional engineering licenses in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kentucky, Nevada, and with the NCEES. Additionally, Wesley is an ACG Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA). Before opening his own office, he gained extensive experience working at consulting firms in Prattville, AL (11 years), Las Vegas, NV (2 years), and Hopkinsville, KY (3.5 years).

Experience

Wesley has comprehensive expertise in innovative, energy-efficient HVAC systems, including Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology, geothermal (ground-source heat pump) systems, and applied hydronic systems. He began designing VRF systems in Kentucky and Tennessee in 2004 when the technology was still in its infancy in the U.S. Since then, he has spearheaded numerous VRF projects nationwide, including the first new K-12 school in the U.S. conditioned entirely by VRF systems (300+ tons), completed in early 2007 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Wesley has also played a pivotal role in designing and commissioning multiple ground-source heat pump projects throughout the Southeast and Nevada. Notably, he was the engineer-of-record for a 70-ton closed-loop lake-source system in Wadley, Alabama, which was featured in the April 2018 issue of the ASHRAE Journal. These systems utilize ground or surface water as a heat source or sink, depending on seasonal demands.

Additionally, Wesley has successfully designed and commissioned numerous applied hydronic HVAC systems for buildings, incorporating chillers, boilers, pumps, piping, air handling units, VAV boxes, fan coil units, energy recovery, and building automated systems/DDC. His meticulous approach ensures these systems are properly sized, designed, constructed, and implemented to achieve optimal performance.

Will joined Sherer Consulting Engineers in 2023 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. He graduated from Mercer University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and immediately entered the HVAC field as a Sales Engineer for Mingledorff's, Inc. He has over 15 years of experience in the HVAC equipment application and design fields and provides project management, construction administration, commissioning, and design services for SCE.

Jeffrey joined Sherer Consulting Engineers in 2021 as a Mechanical Designer. He previously worked for a mechanical contractor performing drafting duties and installation. He has an A.S. in Architectural Design and Construction Management and a B.S. in Engineering Technology, with over five years of experience in the MEP field. Jeffrey passed the Professional Engineering Exam in January 2025, and is on track to obtain his P.E. License 2026.

David Miller

David joined Sherer Consulting Engineers in early 2022 as BIM Manager. Early in his career, David served as a Construction Foreman, managing construction teams to accomplish quality goals in alignment with tight schedules and budget expectations. Building on his construction management experience, he studied Architectural and Construction Technology and started on a new path focused on VDC/BIM technologies. He then spent 12 years with a number of well-respected project management, engineering, and consulting firms, working to implement various VDC/BIM technologies and spearhead the creation, standardization, and automation of organizational workflows and solutions. David enjoys woodworking, CNC machining, and 3D printing from his home workshop when not working.
